                      ****SURGERY CLOSURE****

The staff at the surgery will be taking part in a training session on Tuesday 17th October 2017 from 2.00pm. Potton and Gamlingay surgeries will close at 2.00pm. For urgent medical problems, please call 111

          ****FLU VACCINATION CLINICS 2017****

We have reserved a flu vaccination for all eligible/at risk patients at the surgery.

Our Walk in Flu Clinics are being held on:-

Monday 9th October 2017     2.00-4.00pm Wrestlingworth Village Hall

Saturday 14th October 2017       9.00am-12.00pm Potton Surgery

You do not need an appointment for these clinics; you will be seen in order of arrival.


Flu vaccinations are also available Monday to Friday in both surgeries.  Please contact the Surgery to make an appointment with one of our Health Care Assistants.


Child Flu vaccinations - All children aged two and three, but not aged four years on 31st August 2017 (ie born on or after 1st September 2013 and on or before 31st August 2015) will be offered a nasal spray flu vaccination.  Please contact the surgery to make an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses.



Patient Transport Schemes

A number of car schemes are available for Greensands Medical Practice patients who would otherwise be unable to get to medical appointments or visit patients in hospitals.  Our Patient Transport Scheme leaflet, put together by our Patient Participation Group, gives basic details of volunteer and community organised schemes.  It also gives information about the Free NHS transport service available to eligible patients and how you could reclaim transport costs incurred for essential visits to hospital.

Increase in NHS Prescription Charges

The Government has decided that NHS prescription charges will increase to £8.60 per item from 1 April 2017.  Pre-payment certificates will not be affected by this change.

Changes to the Out of Hours Service

With effect from 30th March 2017

On 30th March 2017, the new Integrated Urgent Care Service will take over in Bedfordshire and Luton which incorporates NHS 111 and the Out of Hours Service.  The new Service will be run by Herts Urgent Care.

NHS 111 is available for patients who need medical advice in a non-life threatening situation out of hours.

Patients can access the new Out of Hours Service by telephoning 111Monday to Friday between 6.30pm-8.00am and 24 hours during the weekend and on Bank Holidays.

Patients will speak with a Clinical Advisor who will assess the patient, both clinically and socially.  The patient will either be given telephone advice, a face to face appointment or a home visit.

If a patient requires a face to face appointment, they will be allocated an appointment at one of the locations listed below:-

  • Biggleswade Hospital, Potton Road, Biggleswade
  • Bedford Hospital, Kempston Road, Bedford
  • Town Centre GP Surgery, Luton
  • Leighton Buzzard Health Centre
  • Priory Gardens Surgery, Dunstable
  • Highlands, Flitwick

Patient Participation Group

The practice is actively seeking new members for our Patient Participation Group (PPG).  The group consists of patients registered at the practice and practice staff.  They meet on a regular basis and advise and support the practice on new initiatives.
