Flu Vaccinations clinic 2024

Flu vaccination remains a critically important public health intervention to reduce morbidity and mortality in those most at risk including older people, pregnant women and those in clinical risk groups.

It helps the health and social care system manage winter pressures by helping to reduce demand for GP consultations and likelihood of hospitalisation. Vaccinating health and care workers also plays an important role in helping to prevent transmission of flu, protecting themselves and those they care for.

*Please note* – The JCVI and NHS England have advised that the flu vaccination programme for adults is to be moved to the beginning of October this year.

      • Date for your diary*** We will be holding flu vaccination clinics on Saturday 5th October in both Potton and Gamlingay Surgery and we will be contacting all eligible patients in the coming weeks to book an appointment. We will also have some clinics available during normal working hours.

Please note – Gamlingay Surgery car park will be available for our patients to park only. All parking related to youth football on Saturday should park in the Ecohub.

The eligible groups are:-
Those aged 65 and over
Those aged 18-65 in clinical at risk groups
Those in long stay residential care homes
Carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
Frontline workers in a social care setting

As always, we have pre-ordered vaccinations for all of our eligible patients. Your GP encourages you to receive your flu vaccination at the surgery, as this enables the clinician to update your medical record at the time of vaccination, and check if you are eligible to receive a shingles or pneumonia vaccination.
